“You are a Jewel in his Crown”

The rules of courtship.

When it comes to true love between a man and a woman, the process of discovering, and realising that love happens somewhat differently for both. Deep down, every woman wants to be romanced, she wants to be properly wooed, sought after, admired, desired, cherished, her heart won over by the man she desires.

For men it is the opposite. Men being highly competitive with each other, it is important for them to win.

How do you know if it’s the RIGHT one?

Simple: You take only the bus that’s headed in the RIGHT DIRECTION.

First we must allow our Heavenly Father to do the picking. And second, the decision for a mate must be made on a spiritual and intellectual basis before it’s made on an emotional one.

“What about love? Shouldn’t that be the third?” you ask. No, and I’ll tell you why. “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (Jer 17:9Jer 17:9

). The heart is willful and is driven by its own agenda. It does not consider things rationally and intelligently it just loves to love! Therefore you have to point it in the right directions: Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (Proverbs 4:23Proverbs 4:23

Whenever you meet a man, you need to get clearance from God, check out his attributes, and then allow your heart to engage.

Dating exists not for mating; it exists for collecting data. I believe that the biblical design would be friendship, courtship, dating, and then marriage.  It is two people walking together in agreement and accountability, learning and growing together.

Jacob and Rachel – “A Love story”

Genesis 29 tells us one of the most beutiful love story I had read:  ‘While Jacob was still speaking with the shepherds, Rachel came with her father’s sheep; for she kept them. Now when Jacob saw Rachel,  Jacob went up and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth (by himself, no help), and watered the flock…’  Then Jacob kissed Rachel and wept aloud.’  He wept, he just saw his wife.

says that Jacob loved Rachel.  And he said, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”

Jacob negotiated with Laban Rachel father to work for him for seven years. In return Laban would give his daughter Rachel to Jacob as his wife. The Bible says in Genesis 29:20Genesis 29:20

, “And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.” Seven years of hard labor was not a long time for the love of his life.

At the wedding Laban tricked Jacob into marrying Leah, the older sister. The Bible says that Jacob continued to work for Laban another seven years to be able to have Rachel as his wife. Jacob originally consented to a seven year contract to wed the girl he loved. Even after the deception, he continued to work another seven years for the hand of Rachel.  This is true love!

I remember the stories that my dad would tell us about  his courtship to mom, how he use to go often to the restaurant  where she worked as a waitress and sit at one of her tables just to see her and talk to her.  When all her tables where occupied he would waited for someone to leave to seat, this was silly because my father brother, my uncle was the owner of the restaurant where my mom worked.  It didn’t matter to him that it was silly because he had found the woman that he couldn’t stop thinking of, he had found her, he had to get to know her. This is something that this generation has lost, courtship between a man and a woman.  I used to love hearing him tell this story of how he romance my mom and got her to marry him, and my mom would hear him tell them and would smile at a distance. They are not fairy tale stories, they are real!  Some man had to cross river, take planes to see her (I can name names but rather not) , I believe in this kind of romance because I saw it at home with my parents and I read them in the bible. Ladies please don’t settle for less, let God bring him to you, it’s biblical! Let this man be choosen by the Father, waited on the Lord, he is Good!
